What's the difference between a
professional designer's creations and your own graphical creations? If
you use the same colors, fonts, type treatments, and royalty-free
photos, what makes the real difference? Often it is the subtle
elements in the background of the image that give a graphic a unique
look and feel and help titles and photo elements literally pop off the
page.
Over the years I have moved away from
hiring graphical artists to designing my own graphics. Even though I
have learned over time to do a pretty good job, I've noticed something

background.
